Lease-to-Own vs. Buyout
Resources on lease-to-own versus buyout options, potential repair and ownership costs.

Lease-to-Own vs. Buyout
Understanding what changes when you move from lease-to-own to ownership can help you decide which option works best for you.
What Could Repairs Cost?
When you own your equipment, repair and maintenance costs become your responsibility. A single service call or major component replacement can cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars.
These examples are intended to illustrate potential customer-owned repair costs. Actual costs vary based on the equipment, model, parts required, labour and contractor rates.
Consider the Cost of Ownership
A buyout eliminates the monthly lease-to-own payment, but it also means taking responsibility for future service, maintenance, parts and labour.
Before choosing to buy out, consider both the one-time buyout amount and the potential costs of maintaining and repairing the equipment over time.

Continue with the Vista Lease-to-Own Program
With Vista, you can continue using your equipment while maintaining the applicable coverage and support provided under your agreement, along with a pathway to ownership at the end of your agreement.

Stay Covered with Vista – Why Renew, Don’t Rush to Buyout
When your lease term nears its end, you might consider buying out your equipment outright. Before you make that leap, know what you may lose – and what you keep by renewing or staying with Vista. Renewing your lease ensures you continue enjoying premium protection, predictable costs, and peace of mind – without the financial burden or risk that comes with owning.
1. Sudden exposure to repair and maintenance costs- Once you own the equipment, Vista’s coverage no longer applies. You become responsible for every breakdown, wear, or repair –even when equipment components age.
2. Unpredictable expenses- Home systems age. Wear, unexpected failures, and part replacements quickly add up. Owning outright means introducing financial risk to what used to be fixed, predictable costs.
3. Loss of support & service guarantee- Our contractor network is optimized for customers under contract. Moving outside may reduce your access to guaranteed timely support, preferential scheduling, or emergency response.
4. No more flexibility- Want to transfer or relocate? Renewing or continuing the lease keeps the same transfer privileges.
5. Reduced leverage for upgrades- When you stay with Vista, you gain the opportunity to streamline upgrades or bundle systems over time. Ownership can fragment your options and make upgrades more costly.
Why Renewing is Often the Smarter Move
Continued full coverage- your repairs, servicing, and part replacements remain included – just as they have been throughout your lease.
Stable, predictable payments- No surprise costs. Your monthly obligations remain transparent and manageable.
Support from our contractor network- Trusted local professionals continue servicing your systems under the same standards you rely on.
Flexibility and continuity- should you upgrade, relocate, or transfer, your contract stays fluid. Want to trade in for a new model later? You're already in the system.
Lower total cost of ownership- You avoid the risks and hidden costs that come with buying out
